A one-way door is the main tool the crews we book use to get a possum out of a roof in Buderim. It is a mesh tube with a flap at the far end, fitted over the gap the possum uses each night. When the possum heads out to feed, it pushes through the flap. When it comes back, the flap stays shut and the way in is closed.
The door only works if the possum has no other way back in. So before it goes on, the crew seals every other gap they find around the roof. On a large or complex roof this is the longest part of the job. The crew checks the gables, eaves, vents, box gutters and any extensions, and seals each one with mesh or metal.
The door usually stays on for three to five nights. During that time, you may hear the possum on the roof trying to find another gap, which is normal. Once the roof is quiet and the crew is sure the possum has gone, they take the door off and seal the main entry to match the rest of the proofing.
